BrainLit continues rapid acceleration phase with oversubscribed new share issue, strengthens board for international expansion

(Lund, SWEDEN) – BrainLit AB, a Swedish health tech lighting company, continues to expand its patented BioCentric LightingTM (BCL) solution for individual health and wellbeing. During the past year, the company has developed and launched two new product lines, BrainLit UVen and BrainLit Alven, and a recently completed new share issue together with three new additions to the Company’s Board of Directors strengthens the company’s resources for international sales and the accelerated development of BCL-based services and technologies.

Today, over 25,000 people spend their days in BrainLit’s BioCentric Lighting environments. BrainLit UVen, which several customers have already purchased, uses safe and patented UVC radiation to eliminate viruses and pathogens from both the air and surfaces. BrainLit Alven, which is a free-standing system, delivers personal BioCentric Lighting to professional work environments and nursing homes, but also to home offices.

During the new share issue, a total of shares were subscribed for more than SEK 124.3 million, of which existing shareholders subscribed for SEK 74.1 million and new shareholders subscribed for SEK 50.2 million. Among the largest investors are Danir AB, which is now taking a much more active role in the company’s development; the founders of SINCH, led by Björn Zethraeus and Kristian Männik; and the entrepreneur Gustaf Ramel.

With the support from the largest shareholders, the BrainLit AGM approved a new board composition with Peter Johansson, Ola Möllerström and Carl-Henrik Nilsson as new board members and with Peter Johansson as the company´s Chairman of the Board.

Peter Johansson has extensive experience from several technology industries including building & industrial automation systems, IT & telecom, contracting & installation services, energy efficiency & environment, hardware & software, as well as security systems. He has 20+ years of experience from CEO positions in Europe and Asia, ranging from startup to mature businesses, including head of Ericsson Joint Venture and US company Emerson Energy Systems in China, as well as Schneider Electric Buildings and Nasdaq-listed Image Systems.

Carl-Henric Nilsson, one of the first investors in BrainLit, has experience from all levels in engineering companies. With an extensive academic background and experience of research projects in among others Lund University, he has been a member of over 15 company boards. Today he is the chairman of Kunskapspartner, whose strategic consulting services in business development are utilized by management teams of several large international companies.

Ola Möllerström is CMO and Deputy CEO of IT consultant group Sigma Connectivity, with its HQ in Lund, Sweden. He led the establishment of Sigma in North America as CEO of Sigma Connectivity Inc. and also has a wide experience of sales and marketing organizations, such as being head of the global portfolio of products at Sony Mobile. He is also an active investor in startups such as OptiCept and SensoDetect.
